Dr Pat O'Brien is currently shedding light onto the collateral effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on women's health.

Pat played a crucial role in the RCOG's COVID response and the development of the extensive suite of COVID-19 guidelines.

During his talk, Pat pointed our attention to the RCOG's Restoration and Recovery guideline.



During Dr Leila Frodsham’s talk, she provided an overview of vulvodynia, the emotional and physical impact of vulvodynia on women, as well as techniques for pain management. In case you missed it, you can watch Leila’s talk on catch-up now.

The benign gynaecology stream started with a patient story from Alison about her experience with PCOS. Alison reminded us of the importance of listening to women, as well as educating and empowering them. Alison said, “I have PCOS, it is a part of my life, but it is not my whole life.”

It was our pleasure to welcome Former RCOG President, Professor Sabaratnam Arulkumaran, to talk on Day 2 of Congress. His talk was clearly a hit with the large audience!


The RCOG has a menopause hub, which provides information for women on the entire spectrum of menopause.


Despite being virtual, #RCOG2021 is still a family affair! Always great to see the doctors of tomorrow.




RCOG Chief Executive, Kate Lancaster and RCOG Vice President, Dr Pat O'Brien are welcoming delegates to day three of #RCOG2021.

Mairead O'Connor presented findings from a study which looked at uptake of cervical screening amongst older women in Ireland. The study revealed that coverage of cervical screening is consistently lower in older women than younger women.
